Zainabu was born on the Masai plain, in a village called Gonja, visible from the MamboViewPoint. She is from the Ibrahimu family, a very gifted but modest family of 19 children. The father (Zai’s grandfather) has passed away 3 years ago and since, all children have lost basically any hope for continuing into higher education. Zainab’s mother being the oldest daughter of the family, never had a chance to attend a secondary school, got married at the age of 17 and had Zai at the age of 18. Divorced already, without any stable income, she decided to send her beloved daughter back to Mtae so she could live with her grandmother, as the rural life in the Usambara. Zai is a fantastic Swahili speaker (very rare for kids in early age), loves to sing and dance. In addition, despite being only 6 years old she shows amazing abilities in Mathematics, solving problems from Grade 3 and 4.
