Nested on a spectacular cliff, at 1841 m altitude, Uvi House & Restaurant offers a comfy, reasonably priced rooms with en-suite bathrooms and an incredible view of the mountains and the Masai step.

It’s an eco friendly, socially involved business concept with the main goal of improving the local employment opportunities while giving the visitors a taste of an authentic, cultural immersion in the Usambara mountains.

Our hearty breakfasts are served outdoors. We offer a simple, homemade and seasonal menu. Local drinks and cultural activities in the stunning Cloud Forest and Usambara villages.

We kind of stumbled on this place after walking to Mambo Viewpoint from Rangwi. It is unique not just because of the view and delightful accommodations, but because the place is run by a remarkable woman who is beloved in the community for all that she does. Dagmar also runs a foundation that sponsors children in local private schools, provides a welcoming space for kids to do homework, runs a program to enable less educated village women to gain work skills, etc. The staff all seemed very happy and the food was wonderful and an interesting fusion of Polish and Tanzanian. She offers local safari experiences, reasonably priced guided tours, and even yoga retreats that combine a stay at her place and a safari. I can't recommend the Uvi House and Restaurant enough! Nice cottages, a luxury tent and a small flat patch where to pitch a ground tent. From all places you have a great view overlooking the valley to Pare Mountains. As an overlander you can park your car on the narrow and somewhat even parking strip. The place is emitting a friendly and honest atmosphere, also due to the very lovely staff. I didn't want to leave because I felt so welcome!There are plenty of activities to pursue around Mambo. I can highly recommend the forest walk or hiking down to the valley if you bring some time 😊.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Uvi House and Restaurant for the first time, and it was an unforgettable experience. Situated at the top of the Usambara Mountains, the location alone is worth the visit. The weather up there was absolutely perfect, making it a serene and refreshing escape from the usual hustle and bustle.The food? Absolutely fantastic! Uvi House specializes in traditional cooked meals, and everything I tried was bursting with flavor and authenticity. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the dishes really give you a taste of local culture.What made the experience even more special was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I had the chance to meet new friends, and the hospitality was top-notch. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’ve found a hidden gem. I honestly wish I could go back and relive that experience—it was that good!If you’re looking for great food, stunning views, and a friendly vibe, Uvi House is definitely worth checking out. Highly recommend!

Our stay at Uvi House & Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. Nestled on a spectacular cliff at 1841 meters altitude, the views of the Usambara mountains were simply breathtaking. The eco-friendly and socially involved business concept of Uvi House made our stay even more special.Nothing beats the feeling of getting a free upgrade at a hotel. We had booked the budget double room and were upgraded to one of the bungalows, which was spacious, beautifully decorated with local materials, and had a private terrace offering stunning views. The room was clean, comfortable, and equipped with all necessary amenities.The staff at Uvi House were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Their passion for hospitality and the local culture was evident in every interaction. They provided excellent recommendations for activities and guided us through the stunning hiking paths of the Usambara mountains.If you're looking for a unique, eco-friendly getaway that offers both relaxation and adventure, Uvi House & Restaurant is the perfect destination. We highly recommend it and can't wait to return.

Fair prices for every wallet

Our cancellation policy

Because of the high banking costs there is no refund in case of a down payment of 50% or less for all bookings, or 100% in case of one night stay or camping, group stays, or bookings secured by Tour Operators.

In all other cases the down payment over 50% will be refunded minus the banking costs if the cancellation is not more than 14 days before the first day of the booking. In case of 14 days or less before the stay, no refund is possible. While you are in Uvi we prefer a final payment in Cash, but payment in dollars, bank transfer is also possible. We offer a fair exchange rate.
